Florence Tiramisu Classes: Where to Learn It and What Each Class Adds

Florence has almost no tiramisu-only classes. Tiramisu is usually taught alongside something else: pasta, pizza, focaccia or coffee. This guide compares each tiramisu class by what the listing says about the dessert and what it’s paired with, so you can choose the one that suits you.

!
There’s no big-name “tiramisu only” class in Florence

On GetYourGuide’s Florence tiramisu page, nearly every class pairs tiramisu with something savoury. The closest to a pure dessert class is the 1.5-hour Cappuccino & Tiramisù class, which is new and has very few reviews. Each class is run by an independent operator, so the operator’s name tells you more than the title.

02 · Tiramisu without pasta

Three classes where tiramisu isn’t the side act to pasta

If you’ve already done a pasta class, or simply want the dessert, these are the options that swap pasta for pizza, focaccia or coffee.

01 Top rated

Al Parco Firenze: pizza, then tiramisu in a garden

  • 2 h
  • 5.0 · 20+ reviews
  • Unlimited wine

You stretch dough for a Margherita and bake it in a wood-fired oven. Then you make tiramisu: a smooth mascarpone cream layered with coffee-dipped biscuits and cocoa, with the story of the dessert as you go. It’s taught in Italian and English by chefs with 20+ years’ experience, and families are welcome.

Good to know The venue is a garden setting just outside the centre, and the listing says it’s wheelchair accessible. At 2 hours, it’s the shortest full-meal option.
02 Dessert only

Towns of Italy: cappuccino, tiramisu and a mini pastry

  • 1.5 h
  • New · few reviews
  • No meal

This is the only class here with no savoury course at all. You brew espresso in a moka pot, froth milk for a cappuccino, layer mascarpone and cocoa for tiramisu, and make a mini pastry such as a cannolo. A digital recipe booklet is included.

Before booking The listing says it’s not suitable for vegans or for gluten or lactose intolerance. It has only a handful of reviews so far.
03 Countryside

MAM Food: focaccia and a nonna’s tiramisu in Chianti

  • 3 h
  • Max 5 people
  • 15 km from Florence

You make two doughs and three focaccias (plain, sausage and pecorino, and a seasonal vegetarian one), plus tiramisu from “Nonna Eliana’s traditional recipe”. The class is held at the host’s home in the Chianti hills and ends with a meal in the garden. A vegan menu is available on request.

Plan ahead Transport isn’t included, and it’s the priciest option here. Book it for the setting and the small group.
04 Also listed

Pizza & tiramisu in a Chianti house

  • 3 h
  • 1 review
  • Wine with meal

A local chef teaches pizza from scratch and a classic tiramisu in a traditional Chianti house. Lunch or dinner and local wine are included. It’s very new, with just one review, so treat it as an alternative if the options above are full.

Check first The location is well outside the city, so confirm how you’ll get there before you book.
03 · Tiramisu with pasta

The most-booked classes, judged by their tiramisu

Most travellers learn tiramisu as the dessert course of a pasta class. Here’s what each of the popular classes says about the tiramisu part.

Mamma Mia

This listing spends the most words on the dessert: making the mascarpone filling, soaking the biscuits, building the layers, balancing the flavours, and trying optional creative variations.

  • 2.5 h, unlimited Tuscan wine
  • Not suitable for food allergies or gluten intolerance
Tiramisu with context

Mangiafuoco

Espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone and cocoa, taught with cultural background. The class opens with Medici history in a 15th-century former stable near the Duomo.

  • 3 h, choice of up to 7 central kitchens
  • Vegetarian, vegan and lactose-free options listed
Small group

Ciaoflorence

Tiramisu with mascarpone cream, made from scratch, in groups of up to 12. The 9 am class starts at Sant’Ambrogio market, except on Sundays and holidays.

  • 2.5–4.5 h, unlimited house wine
  • Not suitable for coeliacs or children under 6

The tiramisu is similar everywhere. The rest of the class isn’t. All nine classes teach mascarpone, coffee-soaked biscuits and cocoa. Pick your class by what comes with it: pizza, focaccia, coffee or pasta.
04 · Know your tiramisu

Where tiramisu comes from and what you’ll learn

A little background helps you ask the chef the right questions, and helps you make it again at home.

The name

“Tirami su” means “pick me up”

Tiramisu comes from north-east Italy, not Tuscany. In Florence you’re learning a national favourite, not a local Florentine dessert.

The origin

Treviso, early 1970s

Le Beccherie restaurant in Treviso says Alba Campeol and pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto created it around 1971–72, and it first appeared on the menu in 1972. Friuli Venezia Giulia also claims it. In 2017, Italy’s agriculture ministry added tiramisu to that region’s list of traditional foods.

The original recipe

Five ingredients, plus cocoa

Le Beccherie’s published recipe uses egg yolks, sugar, mascarpone, savoiardi (ladyfinger biscuits) and coffee, finished with cocoa. It has no alcohol and no whipped cream.

What you’ll practise

The four steps every class teaches

  1. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale, then fold in the mascarpone to make the cream.
  2. Dip the savoiardi briefly in cooled espresso. If you soak them too long, the dessert turns soggy.
  3. Layer biscuits and cream, usually two layers of each.
  4. Chill, then dust with bitter cocoa just before serving.
Questions to ask the chef

What the listings don’t say

  • Raw or pasteurised eggs? The classic recipe uses raw yolks. If you’re pregnant or have a weakened immune system, ask before you book.
  • Alcohol? The original has none, but many cooks add Marsala, rum or coffee liqueur.
  • Your own tiramisu, or a pre-chilled batch? Tiramisu sets best after chilling, so ask whether you eat the one you made at the table.

07 · Before you book

Six things to check before booking a tiramisu class

Each of these comes from the listings themselves, and they’re the details that most often catch people out on the day.

Eggs and pregnancy

No listing says whether the tiramisu uses raw or pasteurised eggs. If that matters to you, message the operator before you pay.

Lactose and gluten

Mascarpone and savoiardi contain dairy and wheat. The Cappuccino & Tiramisù class rules out lactose and gluten intolerance. Mamma Mia rules out gluten intolerance and allergies.

Vegan tiramisu

Cooking Italy lists vegan options, and MAM Food offers a vegan menu on request. The Cappuccino & Tiramisù class says it isn’t suitable for vegans.

Getting there

Al Parco is just outside the centre, and MAM Food is 15 km away in Chianti with no transport included. The pasta classes are all central.

Access

Al Parco and Explorer Emotion list wheelchair access. Mangiafuoco says it isn’t accessible. Ask the other operators directly.

Free cancellation is 24 hours

Every class here offers a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours ahead, so you can hold a place while you check the details.

08 · FAQ

Last checked: September 2026

Is there a tiramisu-only class in Florence?

Almost. The closest is the 1.5-hour Cappuccino & Tiramisù class by Towns of Italy, which adds coffee and a mini pastry but no savoury course. It’s new, with only a few reviews. Every other tiramisu class pairs the dessert with pizza, focaccia or pasta.

Is tiramisu a Florentine dessert?

No. The best-documented story places its creation at Le Beccherie in Treviso in the early 1970s, and Friuli Venezia Giulia has a competing claim. It’s taught in Florence because it’s Italy’s best-known dessert.

Which class teaches tiramisu in the most detail?

On paper, Mamma Mia describes the most technique: the filling, soaking the biscuits, layering and flavour variations. Al Parco and Mangiafuoco also spell out the mascarpone cream, the coffee-dipped biscuits and the cocoa, and add some of the dessert’s history.

Can I take my tiramisu home?

None of the listings mentions takeaway. You eat what you make in class, and most send the recipe by email or as a digital booklet.

Does tiramisu contain alcohol?

The original Treviso recipe doesn’t. Some cooks add Marsala, rum or coffee liqueur, so ask your chef if you need to avoid alcohol.

Quick pick

Book the tiramisu class that fits the rest of your trip

Choose Al Parco for pizza and tiramisu with top ratings, the Cappuccino & Tiramisù class for a short dessert-only session, MAM Food for a small countryside class, or Cooking Italy if you want pasta too and the largest review base.
